A Tribute to Sebastião Salgado

It was with deep sadness that I learned of Sebastião Salgado’s passing. More than a legendary photographer, Salgado was a deeply committed humanist. His work transcended the frame, reminding us of photography’s power to tell human stories with compassion and depth.

His series, like Workers, shaped how I understand photography’s potential—as a tool not just for documentation, but for meaningful storytelling. Salgado’s legacy also includes vital environmental efforts, especially the reforestation project Instituto Terra, founded with his wife Lélia.

At Better Moments, we draw inspiration from Salgado’s ethics and aesthetics. He taught us to use the camera not just to see—but to feel, connect, and create change.
